Duktus

Company history

We are Duktus.

Duktus is a medium-sized company created from the former Pipe division of Buderus Gießerei Wetzlar GmbH, Buderus litinovy systémy and Buderus Pipe Systems FZCO.

On 19th April 2010, the company was renamed Duktus. But our company history reaches much further into the past – all the way to 1731, in fact.

On 14th March 1731, Johann Wilhelm Buderus founded the company Buderus by taking over the Friedrichshütte foundry in Laubach (Hesse). At that point in the time, it did not yet produce pipes. The first cast-iron pipe was cast on 18th December 1901 in Wetzlar in the newly constructed Sophienhütte foundry. This branch of the company would go on to become Buderus Gießerei Wetzlar GmbH.

After Buderus AG was taken over by Robert Bosch GmbH in 2003, a large part of the company which included the cast-iron pipe business was transferred out of the group of companies and sold to investors in 2005. Three years later, these investors then sold the business on to the current owner. The resulting company consequently presented itself as a specialist with a sole focus on the production of ductile cast-iron pipes. Duktus has been a part of the vonRoll infratec Group since February 2016.

The focus of the Group’s development work is the global expansion of its systems business, with innovative, high-quality products and services for water and gas supply infrastructure, as well as waste water disposal.
